Some of my favorite books...
| An
Elementary Textbook of Ayurveda
I have read many good books on Ayurveda. However,
this one, though a little heavy, gets straight to the point. Plenty
of detail, yet very well presented. Interesting discussions on
topics such as the history of Ayurveda, as well as some case studies
looking at comparisons between modern ailments from both an allopathic
and Ayurvedic viewpoint. A great second buy for anyone interested
in Ayurveda.

| Yoga
& Ayurveda
David Frawley
This is a great book. Shows the importance of
Ayurveda for the westerner seeking life-contentment through Yoga.
A thorough, accessible plunge into how these ancient yet living
teachings can be married successfully to today's busy lifestyle.
A definite buy for anyone interested in Ayurveda & Yoga.

| The
Complete Book of Ayurvedic Home Remedies
Vasant Lad
A fantastic assortment of home remedies for all
sorts of common ailments, not to mention a well presented introduction
to Ayurveda itself. Well worth the buy.

| Perfect
Balance - Ayurvedic
Nutrition for Mind, Body, and Soul
Atreya Smith
This book is priceless for anyone wishing to improve
their life through nutrition. Atreya has a real grasp of Ayurveda
and how it can work for people in the West. His assessment of
nutrition in today's complex lifestyle is well presented, and
his advice, in accordance with Ayurvedic knowledge, is clear,
concise and complete. The only book I know which successfully
informs us on how to heal with Ayurvedic nutrition. Many useful
tables and charts, as well as a 21-day plan to help make the change
from our current diet to a diet perfectly suited to our individual
needs.

| The
Ayurvedic Cookbook
Amadea Morningstar
Scrumptious! Every meal that reaches our own kitchen
table is thanks to the wonderful recipes and knowledge offered
in this excellent cookbook. Easy to use, informative, and most
of all, the food tastes GREAT! There is no doubt about it, this
book is my #1 cookbook of all time. A nice touch are the fact-file-boxes
that deal with specific foods, and if that's not enough, the hearty
introduction to Ayurveda makes this book my favourite for anyone
new to Ayurveda, or anyone keen to Cook with Consciousness.

| Ayurveda:
A Life of Balance
Maya Tiwari
Another super book on Ayurvedic cooking. The only
book I know which goes into detail about food choices for double-dosha
types (ie most of us). As well as offering an impressive range
of authentic and westernised recipes, it has a tone of sensitivity
that I appreciate, especially the emotive discussion on the harmful
qualities of dairy products that are mostly due to the result
of greed in today's consumer-based society. A real eye-opener
to the famed proverb 'You are what you eat'.
