Ginger Pickle

Take Ginger Pickle before meals (30 mins prior to eating if possible) to:
  • Stimulate production and excretion of digestive enzymes thus improving the digestion of your meal.
  • Fulfil the body-mind-spirit by providing all six tastes at every meal.

Good for everyone unless high Pitta (symptoms of heat: acid indigestion, burning in the stomach, anger, red-hot rashes, high blood pressure, doesn't like spicy food)

Ingredients

  • Fresh (organic if possible) root ginger, peeled.
  • Salt (rock is best, otherwise sea-salt).
  • Honey (local, organic, cold-extracted).
  • Lemon juice (organic, freshly squeezed).

Method

Grate the ginger using a small grater or ginger grater. Add an equal quantity of honey, some lemon juice, pinch of salt. Mix in a small bowl. Take a tsp or so before meals. Store in fridge for a day or two.

Quickies!

If you are busy, you can simply chew on a couple of slices of root ginger, with a little honey. If lemons are handy, take a very thin slice and suck out the juice, adding a pinch of salt. Grating is not necessary, but perhaps easier for the family to deal with!
