Cream of rice

Ingredients (makes 1 bowl)
  • Cream of rice—4 level tbsp
  • Cold water—1.5 cups (~400 ml)
  • Ghee—1/4-1 tsp (less for K more for V)
  • Cinnamon & Cardamom—Pinch of each (plus Ginger powder for K)
  • Raisins—1 tbsp (optional)
  • Sugar (omit for K, or use old honey)

Method

  • Put cream of rice in large mixing bowl. Whisk in the water.
  • Melt the ghee in a pan on medium-low. Then reduce the heat to low.
  • Add spices and cook for 1 minute.
  • Pour the cream of rice/water mix into the pan. Increase to medium heat.
  • Add raisins (if using).
  • Stir constantly until it thickens and begins to bubble, then remove from heat
  • add sugar or other sweetener
  • et viola!
